Two suspects held in quintuple murder

GUJRANWALA, Sept 5: The Aroop police have registered a case against nine people for allegedly killing five people over political rivalry near Lohianwala Bypass and arrested two suspects on Wednesday.

Earlier, bodies of the five people who were shot dead on Tuesday night were handed over to their families after autopsies at the DHQ Hospital.

The case has been registered against former Lohianawala union council nazim Javed Iqbal Sarra, Muhammad Answar, Nasir Khalid Hussain, Muhammad Asif, Tahir and four others on the complaint of Muhammad Amjad, the son of one slain, Muhammad Aslam, alias Achoo.

Aslam, alias Bagoo Pehalwan, Ch Nasrullah, Muhammad Aslam, alias Achoo, Nazir Muhammad, Muhammad Nazar, were shot dead when they were sitting at the outhouse of Bagoo Pehalwan while another Muhammad Aslam, s/o Abdul Rashid, died due to cardiac arrest when he saw the bodies of slain lying after the gruesome incident. Later, the six were laid to rest in a local graveyard

The killed and alleged assassins’ both belonged to state minister Ch Shahid Akram Bhinder’s group in the ruling PML. During local bodies elections, the state minister nominated Shahid Zafar Bhinder to contest the nazim slot while the group to which the killed people belonged apposed the minister’s decision. However, candidate nominated by the minister won the elections and the ensuing rivalry claimed six lives.

BOYCOTT: The District Bar Association will observe complete strike besides taking out a “Go Musharraf Go” rally on Thursday (today), DBA general secretary Aamir Munir Begn said while speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday.

The meeting was told that lawyers would not attend courts and would wear black armbands to protest the dictatorship. Later, they would stage a “Go Musharraf Go” rally on the call given by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

Advocate Begn said the lawyers would fully support the SCBA’s struggle to mop the dictatorship from the country.
