LAHORE: A newborn suffered serious burns when a fire broke out in a house in Green Town here on Saturday.

The incident occurred when the landlord of the house disconnected electricity supply to his tenant, Rizwan, who lit a candle as an alternate.

When Rizwan left his 15-day-old baby Zain in the room and went out of the house, the candle fell on the bed, a police official claimed.

The bed caught fire with the baby receiving multiple injuries. The other members of the family alerted Rescue 1122 which dispatched a team and controlled the fire.

Zain was later shifted to a local hospital where his condition was stated to be serious, the police official said.
