DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Personnel of Counter-Terrorism Department and army in a joint operation shot dead a terrorist who was wanted in numerous cases of terrorism and other crimes, police said on Saturday.

The operation was conducted in Kotla Syedan area. The police said that law-enforcers signalled a car to stop for checking but the car inmates opened fire on the personnel.

The personnel returned the fire in which one person identified as Kifayatullah was killed. The police said that the deceased was wanted in six different cases, including attacks on police.

Officials said a hand grenade and a pistol were also recovered, adding Kifayatullah’s accomplice, Mohammad Shoaib who was also wanted to the police, escaped from the area.

The security forces were carrying out a search operation in the area to capture the fleeing terrorist.
