QUETTA: A man reportedly committed suicide after killing his wife, two sons and a daughter in the Kuchlak area, some 25km off here, on Sunday.

A senior police officer said that Abdul Zahir, a resident of Killi Katter of Kuchlak, took his wife and three children to his in-laws’ house three days ago. Then he went out of town. But on Sunday evening, he returned and gunned down his entire family and then killed himself.

Police took the bodies to Kuchlak hospital. After completing the medico-legal formalities the bodies were handed over to the family.

The dead were identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, 2, Zaeem, 3, and Maryam, 5.

“The motive behind the tragic incident was not known so far,” the police official said, adding that the investigation was under way.

The police quoted the people as saying that Abdul Zahir was facing financial problems for the past few days.
