GILGIT: Three persons were killed and as many injured when a man opened fire on his opponents during the course of a jirga in Thak valley of Diamer district on Thursday evening.

According to the police, the jirga was called to settle a timber ownership dispute between the rival groups.

They said that the accused identified as Zubair, 50, opened fire, killing three members of the rival group on the spot and injuring as many.

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Chilas. The condition of the injured is said to be stable. The police registered FIR against the accused.
