MUZAFFARABAD: At least five people were killed and one was injured after a speeding truck plunged into a ravine in Poonch district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The Rawalpindi-bound truck, which had started its journey from Rawalakot, met the tragedy near Thandi Kass on Ghazi-i-Millat Road, reportedly due to failure of brakes, witnesses said.

As a result, four people, including the driver, died on the spot and were identified as Mohammad Ashgar, 43, Mohammad Waqas, Mohammad Ashraf, 30, residents of Lahore and Mohammad Mumtaz, 55, resident of Okara.

Aaqib, 25, resident of Narowal, and Waheed, 36, resident of Okara, were critically injured and shifted to CMH Rawalakot, where the latter succumbed to his injuries.

Condition of Aaqib was also stated to be critical.
