KARACHI: The provincial government has declared the chamber of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani a ‘sub-jail’ for him.

Officials in the assembly’s secretariat told Dawn on Sunday that they had received an order from the provincial government that declared speaker’s chamber the sub-jail and allowed Mr Durrani, who has been in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau in connection with a graft case, to reside in his chamber.

Speaker Durrani will be kept in his chamber instead of prison for the time being, said an official.

The NAB has filed a reference against Mr Durrani for allegedly possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
