BUNER: Police here on Tuesday claimed to have killed an accused, identified as Liaquat Ali of Jangdara Torwarsak, in an encounter.

They said that the accused was involved in the killing of police constable Zafar Ali of Chanaro who was gunned down while performing duty with a polio team a week ago. They said that ASI Waris Khan received bullet injuries in the encounter and was taken to DHQ hospital, Daggar. However, his condition is stated to be stable.

The police said that they had arrested Ashtar, father of Liaquat, and claimed to have recovered a Kalashnikov which was snatched from the police constable. Malakand division DIG Mohammad Saeed Wazir supervised the operation.
