MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA and special adviser to Chief Minister Sardar Khurram Sohail Leghari has been called by the Election Commission of Pakistan for hearing of a disqualification plea on March 27 — the day he is going to wed.

The Lahore High Court’s Multan Bench had asked the ECP to call the ruling party MPA for hearing of a plea filed by his defeated rival Nadeem Khan Leghari who alleged that Mr Sohail had forged documents to conceal his actual age, so he should be disqualified for the Punjab Assembly membership.

Mr Sohail had contested election from PP-275 as an independent candidate and later joined the PTI. He was made a special advisor to the chief minister.

Nadeem Leghari in his plea before the LHC Multan Bench had alleged that according to original documents Mr Sohail was below 25 years and had submitted fake documents to the ECP.

The court forwarded the plea to the ECP that summoned Khurram Sohail Leghari for hearing on March 27 that happened to be the day his marriage was scheduled for. MPA’s father Sardar Chunnu Khan Leghari, talking to Dawn, denied the allegation and claimed his son had submitted genuine documents to the ECP.

The guests at the MPA’s wedding include Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and PTI senior leadership, including Jahangir Tareen.
