GUJRAT: A man allegedly committed self-immolation after killing his wife and three children over a domestic dispute at Jani Chak village in Dinga police precincts on Thursday.

Police said Fayaz Ahmed (40), would often quarrel with his wife Nazia.

On Thursday, the couple again quarreled over a domestic issue during which Ahmad hit Nazia on her head with a club. She died on the spot.

After killing his wife, the suspect attacked his two daughters -- Zarqa (15) and Amina (12) -- and five-year-old son Samiullah with club and a knife, killing all of them instantly, the police said.

Later, the police said, the suspect locked himself in a room of his house where he set himself ablaze.

He was taken out of the room by locals and succumbed to his burns while being shifted to hospital.

The police said that three other children of the couple -- two sons and a daughter -- remained safe as they had gone to visit their paternal grandparents when the inicdent took place.

Police, on being informed of the incident, reached the village and shifted the dead bodies to the Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

A case was lodged against Ahmad under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the report of his father-in-law, Muneer Hussain.

Meanwhile, a woman, Sajida Bibi, died and her two daughters injured when the roof of their house caved in at Kunjah. A Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured girls to the hospital where doctors declared them stable.
