TAXILA: Armed robbers looted cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables in Taxila and Wah on Monday.

Three armed men entered the house of Shahid Rauf in Wah Cantonment police area and made off with a motorcycle, gold ornaments and cash.

In the second incident, burglars broke into the shop of Aftab Ahmed and fled with Rs200,000 in cash in Taxila police area.

Auto thieves stole a motorcycle and a Suzuki pickup from Taxila and Wah police areas.

Respective police stations have registered cases and started further investigation.

Separately, Hassanabdal police arrested a member of a robbers gang who looted passengers in public transport.

Police sources said Baghat Singh boarded a Peshawar-bound passenger van in Taxila.

When the van reached near Burhan, the robbers, who were travelling in the van as passengers, overpowered him and snatched Rs80,000 from him and threw him out of the vehicle.

After he voiced alarm, passersby tried to intercept the vehicle and overpower the suspected robbers and managed to catch hold of one of them.

However, others managed to escape along with the vehicle. The suspect was handed over to the police for further interrogation.
