FAISALABAD: The police officials are finding it difficult to ensure the security of the Chinese officials living in Faisalabad due to their behaviour and movement without intimation, says a report prepared by a security agency.

The report says that 14 Chinese language instructors, including five men and nine women, were living at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and teaching Chinese language to the university students.

Five policemen and a UAF security guard remain present outside their colony. The district police are performing their duties in two shifts. Besides these policemen, a special squad has also been provided by the district police that remain with the Chinese national during their movement till 6pm.

A project is under way at Sahianwala where some Chinese workers are also engaged. After 6pm, the report says the Chinese go to the Sahianwala to meet their countrymen and return to the residences late into night without security/escort.

The Chinese nationals misbehave with the policemen deployed for their security in case they try to stop them from movement without security. The report says that the Chinese instructors usually leave the UAF by informing the police that they are going to deliver a lecture. These Chinese instructors have also been seen moving in the university without security.

Keeping in mind the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi and arrest of some suspects near the Chinese camp in Rahim Yar Khan, it is imperative to restrict the movement of the Chinese nationals living at the UAF and they must be stopped moving without security to avoid any untoward incident, the report suggests.

It highlights some security flaws, mentioning that barriers and obstacles are missing at the main gate of the colony where the Chinese people are residing. Such barriers must be erected and the number of policemen should also be increased to avoid any mishap.

A police officer, requesting not to be named, says the report was submitted to the district police a couple of days ago and the security flaws pointed out in the report had been removed to ensure foolproof security for the Chinese nationals.
