LAHORE: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) is organising a protest on Thursday (today) in front of the Lahore High Court against rowdyism of lawyers who used abusive language inside court and attacked children’s guarantor Waseem Ijaz in the presence of the sessions judge.

Muhammad Tahseen, spokesperson for the JAC, said they disapproved of the action by a senior police officer and demanded that stern action be taken against him so that no one could take law in his hands again.

At a meeting held at the Asma Jahangir Legal Aid Cell, the JAC said the hooliganism by the lawyers representing the police officer was disgraceful. It happened in a custodial case of the officer’s children in the sessions court on Monday.

The lawyers had attacked the guarantor of the children and senior lawyer Hina Jilani’s assistant Mohammad Akram inside the courtroom.
