KARACHI: Inspired by spinner Tariq Khan’s 12-wicket haul, Karachi Blues sealed a six-wicket win over Abbottabad in their last-round fixture of the PCB Inter-region Under-19 three-day tournament here on Tuesday.

Tariq, who took 7-25 on Monday, again tormented the visitors in the Group ‘A’ tie at the UBL Sports Complex with five for 52 to finish match analysis of 12-77.

Needing just 29, Karachi Blues still lost four wickets to paceman Nauman Akbar before completing the job.

But the result won’t go any good to Karachi Blues if Dera Murad Jamali succeed in defeating Quetta on Wednesday’s last day of the game at the TMC Ground. At stumps on day two, DMJ were in some trouble at 97-6 after earning a lead of 38 on the first innings by dismissing Quetta for 233.

Slow left-armer Mohammad Junaid led from the front with match bag of 11 wickets for 60 runs as Bahawalpur trounced Hyderabad by an innings and 39 runs in their Group ‘B’ fixture at the National Ground in Islamabad.

In the same pool Islamabad defeated Peshawar by five wickets at the Gohati Cricket Ground in Swabi. Paceman Zain-ul-Abedin grabbed 7-28 to finish with match haul of 11-71.

Karachi Whites drubbed Larkana by 213 runs in the Group ‘C’ encounter at the Bohranwali Ground in Faisalabad.
