ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is expected to witness sizzling days with temperature rising to 40°C.

The next wave of rainfall will be from the east but the first batch of pre-monsoon clouds is not expected before the middle of June.

The Met Office has said mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country in the coming days.

Dr Ghulam Rasool, the director general Met Office, said maximum temperature in Islamabad on Thursday was 37°C which would increase by 1-2 degrees to reach 40°C on Sunday.

“There are chances the mercury level could touch 42°C in Islamabad by the end of this month. Localised rains in a limited areas along the hills of Galiyat or in Malakand are also likely in coming weeks,” the official added.

Temperature in most of cities in the central Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad and Sargodha, is already around 42°C.
