PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party has expressed reservations over the delimitations of various constituencies of National and provincial assemblies and announced to move court against it.

Addressing PPP workers here on Monday, former federal minister Arbab Alamgir and former adviser to prime minister Asma Alamgir said that some politicians influenced Election Commission of Pakistan staff to bring changes in the constituencies without consulting other political parties.

On the occasion, PML-N former candidate for PK-7 Peshawar, Moazam Bacha along with his supporters announced to join PPP.

The speakers alleged that JUI-F former district nazim Haji Ghulam Ali started pre-poll rigging and brought changes in NA-27 Peshawar. They urged ECP to take notice of the changes in the union councils of NA-27. They added that they would challenge it in a court of law within a couple of days.

Ms Alamgir claimed that Wadpaga, Nahqai and Kankola union councils had been excluded from NA-27 and union councils of the choice of JUI-F had been included in the constituency.

“How can union councils in a constituency are changed on a simple application and that too without informing other political parties. Changes like these are a big question mark on the role of ECP,” she said. She added that the matter would be taken to court of law and the people involved in it would be exposed.

The PPP leader said that negligence was shown by relevant officials of ECP on the issue. She alleged that the officials were supporting illegal activities. It was tantamount to pre-poll rigging in NA-27, she added.

Ms Almagir said that she was PPP candidate from the NA-27 and injustices like those would not be tolerated. She said that they would move high court to stop injustices with the people of the area.
