RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government will conduct an intelligence survey to determine the number of Chinese nationals who have not informed the police of their whereabouts, particularly those running private businesses.

The government has also asked the police and civil administration to ensure that the required safety standards are in place and that no unauthorised movement of Chinese nationals is allowed without security cover.

The decision to conduct ground-checking by intelligence was taken at a recent meeting of the subcommittee on law and order, which operates under the provincial cabinet.

The IGP and Rawalpindi regional police officer have also been directed to take the necessary security measures for Chinese nationals working on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and non-CPE projects and in private businesses.

The meeting also observed that the interior ministry has informed that Chinese nationals are reportedly residing in different parts of the country without informing the local police and without security, particularly those running businesses.

It was decided to check the unauthorised movements of Chinese nationals without security cover and to discourage night-time travel.
