Relatives of the deceased and residents of the area put the coffin of the 19-year-old man on Airport Road and staged a protest against the police for their failure to maintain peace in the area.

Shah Zaib, his father Mukhtar Ahmed and brother Junaid, 16, were returning home on a motorbike at 11:30pm when three men intercepted them.

When Mukhtar, who was driving the bike, tried to speed away, the robbers opened fire on them.

As a result, Shah Zaib died on the spot while his father and brother were injured. The protesters demanded the police provide protection to them and arrest the culprits.

Senior police officers reached the spot and assured the protesters that the culprits would be arrested soon after which the protesters dispersed.
