BADIN: The Badin district council membership of Hassam Mirza, the younger son of estranged Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Dr Zulfikar Mirza, was suspended through a resolution adopted in its session on Monday.

The resolution was moved by a member, Haji Mohammed Nizamani against Hassam Mirza, the leader of the opposition in the house. It said the opposition leader used filthy and unparliamentary language against a fellow member, Nadir Hussain Khowaja (who belongs to the PPP).

Council chairman Ali Asghar Halepoto, who was presiding over the session, observed that the opposition leader like every other member was supposed to abide by the prescribed rules and regulations and maintain the decorum of the house.

The resolution called for restraining Mirza from entering the council hall and suspending his membership until he tendered an apology.

Speaking to Dawn over phone, Hassam Mirza rejected use of unparliamentary language against anyone. He vowed to move court against the ruling.
