ABBOTTABAD: Abbottabad police recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from a car and arrested an accused here on Sunday.

ASP Cant Taswar Iqbal told reporters that during a search and strike operation, a car was stopped at Muslim Abad checkpost.

On checking the vehicle, the police recovered 71 pistols, one MP5, one SMG, 148 magazines, and thousands of rounds.

The police seized the consignment and arrested one Akhtar Nawaz, resident of Mardan district, while his two companions escaped from the spot. The police mounted search for their arrest.
