The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday allowed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to continue its operations in Sindh and sought a list of provincial ministers and government officers who are facing accountability inquiries.

The court also directed the issuance of notices to the respondents in petitions against the suspension of NAB laws in the province and adjourned the hearing till August 22.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh heard the petitions.

The petitioners in their statements told the court that the provincial government had been instructing its departments to refuse cooperation with NAB.

The advocate general, on the occasion, informed the court that a case against the repeal of NAB laws in the province was also being heard in the apex court and if there was conflict between the federal and provincial governments, the matter may go to the apex court.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that they were unaware of a case in the apex court and had not even received any intimation to this effect.

He further said that the accountability watchdog's work had been affected due to the new law passed by the Sindh government.

After hearing the arguments, the court directed NAB to continue its functions in the province and issued notices to the other respondents in the case.
