PESHAWAR: The City police have set up a workshop to repair armored personnel carriers and bulletproof pickups.

City police chief Mohammad Tahir Khan told mediapersons at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines at the opening of the workshop that so far the workshop had repaired six Russian-made armoured personnel carriers, saving a big amount of money for the government.

He said that after start of the workshop not only the expenses had come down, but at the quality of repair and maintenance had also improved.

He said that the workshop was also providing facilities of wash and overhauling.

Mr Khan said that so far different types of 425 vehicles had also been repaired, while the six damaged APCs which were lying abandoned for past many years were repaired and overhauled, and then handed over to the Mattani, Inqilab and Khazana police stations and Peshawar central jail for duty.

He said that 18 abandoned mobile vehicles were also repaired and handed over to various circles of the city police. He said that the workshop also added bulletproof shields to 61 mobile pickups of the city police.

He said that 30 mobiles of city circle, 26 of the cantonment, 16 of rural circle and 14 vehicles of Saddar circle were also repaired.
