TAXILA: A woman allegedly tortured and strangled to death her 10-year-old stepson and threw his body in a well in Tass village, Hassanabdal Saddar Police said on Monday.

According to the police, the victim went missing on Saturday and his body was found from the village well days later with marks that suggest he was tortured and that his hands, feet and neck were tied with rope.

A case was first registered against unknown persons and the investigation was then handed over to the Heinous Crime Investigation Unit of Hassanabdal, the officers of which took the victim’s stepmother into custody due to suspicion.

During interrogations, the accused said she had tortured the boy because she had emotional issues and that he had died during the torture after which she had thrown his body into the well.

The police registered a murder case against her and started further investigations. Heinous Crime Investigation Unit Sub-Inspector Zulfiqar told mediapersons that the accused killed the boy because his father gave more attention to him than to his second wife.
