OKARA: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq has said all parties conference should be convened to seek a consensus on military courts in the country.

He said this while addressing a press conference here on Sunday night. JI central secretary information Ameerul Azeem was also present.

The JI emir said terrorist activities in the country were part of a worldwide agenda and the time had come that all political and religious parties, federal and provincial governments must be on the same page to counter the present wave of terrorism.

He said it was a sensitive issue and the people must be provided security and peace at all costs. He said the country was facing a war-like situation as a large number of people were killed and injured in recent terror attacks.

Mr Haq said the Punjab government had finally sought the support of Rangers to tackle terrorism in the province which was tantamount to failure of the government.

Regarding the Panama leaks case, he said besides the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, at least 600 people of the country were also involved in it and the JI had already moved the apex court in this regard.
