RAWALPINDI: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to ensure the timely completion of New Islamabad International Airport to avoid financial losses.

The committee also directed the authority to ensure the provision of international and basic facilities at the new airport before its expected inauguration on August 14. The meeting of the committee was held at the new airport with Rana Mohammad Hayat Khan in the chair.

The committee discussed the proposals of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2017-18 relating to the Civil Aviation Division and its attached departments.

The members appreciated all the proposals but directed that the ongoing projects should be completed before initiating new ones.
