MITHI: Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, a member of the royal family of Qatar, along with his entourage, was sent back to Karachi on Thursday as he did not have a valid permit for hunting, wildlife department officials told a press conference here on Thursday.

The Qatari guest and his entourage had arrived in Tharparkar late on Sunday evening. A communiqué issued by the ministry of foreign affairs on Feb 1 had stated that the royal guest would stay in Tharparkar from Feb 5 to 28 and had asked the Sindh Rangers DG to take measures for his security.

However, wildlife department’s honorary game warden in the district Talook Chand Valasai and district game officer Ashfaque Ahmed Memon told a press conference on Thursday that they sent the royal guest and his entourage back to Karachi since they did not have the mandatory permit for hunting in the area.

The officials said the guests stayed in a camp in the Jat Tarai area of Diplo taluka before they left for Karachi via Khadan town of Badin district.

“None of them tried to indulge in hunting during their stay here,” the officials said.
