A student of eight grade at a private cadet college in Larkana reportedly lost his consciousness and was paralysed after he was allegedly beaten up by his teacher, it has been learnt.
The school teacher meted out a harsh physical punishment on the student for unknown reason at the cadet college in Larkana district of Sindh, DawnNews reported on Friday.
Ahmad Hussain, who had scored 95 per cent in recent exam, was so harshly beaten that he lost his consciousness and was paralysed due to an injury to the head while his other body parts were also swollen, his father told DawnNews.
The teen cannot speak or walk on his own and treatment in a private hospital in Karachi has been futile.
Murad Ali Shah takes notice of the incident
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the alleged torture of the teenager reportedly by his teacher and announced that Sindh government will finance the treatment of the boy.
Shah directed the minister for health to visit the boy and see if there aren't enough facilities available for his treatment in Pakistan then make arrangements for his treatment in United States.
The National Assembly in 2013 had unanimously adopted a bill providing up to one-year imprisonment and up to Rs50,000 penalty for the person found guilty of inflicting corporal punishment on children.
The bill was aimed at protecting dignity of the children as human rights.

This disgusting and utterly inhuman behaviour from the teacher, no matter what the student did as there are many other forms of punishment - like dismissal for a period.
Why do we still have corporal punishment???

If such inhuman incidents are taking place in School that indicate the lack of implementation of law that prohibit corporal punishment. I always fail to understand why our teacher unable to understand that it is inhuman behavior to deal with innocent children to teach them anything.

Our schools need get rid of the military discipline mindset and torture children at the hands of gestapo and red army instructors. Schools are meant to make the childhood enjoyably memorable and future adulthood: enlightened, prosperous and rewarding, but our schools do none of this and make childhood traumatic and future grim.

A full investigation in detail is required to get to the bottom of this issue. Since child cannot communicate, investigators must find more than one witness. We must protect the innocent if theacher in this case is innocent.
Undue harsh punishment by parents, teachers or anyone can leave physical and psychological scars on young children for rest of their lives and may become big time personality problems when they grow up.

This "beating" culture has to end in Pakistan. It has changed our culture into a barbaric one where everything is settled by force. Teachers who let their frustration out on kids are not fit for the job. Every teacher must go through a psychiatric evaluation. The teacher who tortured this kid should be indicted with a case as severe as murder or even worse since paralyzing someone is worse than murder.

1. Why just 1 year imprisonment, why not suspension fr life for the teacher and even higer punishment if any injury occurs (like here)

Physical punishment in schools needs to be abolished once and for all. There cannot be any justification for the teachers or school administrators to use physical force to convey their displeasure. They should be required to convey their message through normal means and punishment should be limited to extra work or in the worst case suspension or expulsion. Young, impressionable minds must be taught that physical violence is unacceptable, this will lead to a better, more tolerant society and a more respectful environment in later years. The concerned teacher must be fired immediately and jailed for using serious bodily harm to a minor.
