Arthur expects Pakistan to perform well in upcoming Tests against Windies

Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur on Tuesday said he expects the team to perform well in the upcoming Test against the West Indies.

Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed in the second innings of the first Test.

“I really hope the team will do well and improve its performance in the second Test,” said the head coach while talking to DawnNews in the United Arab Emirates.

Arthur added that the performance of the Test team has been satisfactory in recent Test series.

“The performance of the team in England was very motivating, and the motivation can drive the team for years,” said Arthur.

The coach was all praise for Yasir Shah, and said that Shah will be a “champion bowler for Pakistan in the future as he is an exceptional bowler”.

“The upcoming tours of Australia and New Zealand will be the real test for the team, but I am looking forward to the challenge along with the team,” said the coach.

The remaining two Tests of the series against the West Indies will be played in Abu Dhabi (October 21-25) and Sharjah (October 30-November 3).

Micky is a very good coach. I think he has diagnosed the real problems of Pakistan team in all the formats. I believe previous coaches lacked that.

Team has to adopt to the conditions of day/night test cricket in remaining two tests. Misbah will have to change strategy as ball gets wet because of due. Very important how to use bowlers under lights..

Mickey is a clinical coach and can help players immensely in all three formats. My main worry is the fact that almost all of them are not adequately educated and lack proper English language skills. PCB must strive to start English language classes for Pakistani players so that they can work better with Mickey.

One thing I do not agree with Arthur is promoting Asad Shafiq to the one down spot. It may work in UAE but in NewZealand and Australia it will be a waste of his abilities being a good player of older ball. I have no doubt that Asad can cope with it whenever our opners give a good first wicket stand but if the first wicket falls within first 8 overs, my choice will always be Babar Azam,

@Pakfan Remaining are only day matches against West Indies. Pakistan's next day/night venture will be against tough Australian team. So, let's hope that they have learnt quite a bit from this game.

On previous occasions I remember Pakistan having scored first innings score more than the competing team and yet lost the match I think that is purely due to loose shots and carelessness. Strange to lose match after building a lead of more than 200 runs.

please do everything on merit. Be consistent with the squad (not the playing 11) for a long period. Teamwork over reliance on big stars. Pakistan is blessed with talent.

@Shahid , He scored a century in England and there isn't a lot of difference between 6 and 3 as normally he has to play against second new ball batting at six. Asad is best batsman for Pakistan in technical terms hence your best batsman should always be batting at three.
