GWADAR: Two suspected militants were killed and five others arrested by security personnel during a search operation in the Mand area of Kech district on Saturday night.

According to officials, the security forces launched the operation in the Goburd area along the Iranian border after receiving information about the presence there of armed militants.

“A heavy exchange of fire took place between the militants and security personnel and continued for two hours,” the officials said, adding that two militants, Abdul Waheed and Muhammad Waris, were killed in the encounter.

“Five armed suspects — Mohammad Waleed, Dilawar, Adnan, Zahid and Mohammad Latif — were arrested during the search operation,” they said.

Meanwhile, one Lal Bakhsh was shot dead by men on a motorcycle in the Kolanch area of Pasni tehsil.

The bullet-riddled body of one Sulman was found in the Balicha area.
