GILGIT: An anti-terrorists court here on Thursday sentenced the absconding mastermind of Nanga Parbat massacre to 35 years imprisonment.

The court also sentenced two other accused to 26 years imprisonment each. Both the convicted persons are brothers of Nanga Parbat massacre mastermind.

ATC Judge Raja Shehbaz Khan announced the verdict after prosecution proved its charges against the accused.

In Nanga Parbat incident, 10 foreign mountaineers and a local guide were shot dead by militants on June 22, 2013 at a base camp. The attackers were reportedly dressed in uniform of Gilgit Scouts.

Later, police arrested five of the 11 alleged attackers. One of the arrested prisoners managed to escape in the Gilgit jailbreak incident last year while another was killed in encounter with police after the jailbreak. The case was shifted to a military court under National Action Plan.

The military court sentenced three prisoners for their involvement in Nanga Parbat massacre.
