LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency on Tuesday registered first case under new cyber crime law — the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

FIA cyber crimes deputy director Syed Shahid Hasan told Dawn the agency had registered the first case under PECA against the owner of illegal gateway exchanges.

On the complaint of PTA, an FIA team raided Manawala, Faisalabad, and busted three illegal gateway exchanges.

Mr Hasan said the owner of the illegal gateway exchanges, Unar Sattar, had been arrested. A number of SIMs, two laptops and other digital media were recovered from him.
