WITH heavy rainfall in Karachi in the last couple of days and encroachments along flood drains and lack of drainage in many city areas have played havoc with the city.

There is still time to act rather than waiting for rains. While the city already has a shortage of water and electricity, people might be stranded and a lot might go wrong in the already troubled city.

The crisis may include a shortage of food and drinking water. Populations for survival might act in a selfish manner leading to disastrous situations.

I request the civilian leadership to consider this as an urgent matter and act upon it.
