NATIONAL local or multinational pharmaceutical companies supply their drugs through medicine-carrier companies from Nawabshah to Naushahro Feroze. This area is the hottest in the country; temperature rises to 50 degrees Centigrade.

As pharmaceutical companies do not maintain temperature during transportation, the efficacy of medicine is lost. Drugs should be kept below 25 to 30 degrees centigrade. It is the responsibility of drug-carrying companies to keep temperature below 30 degrees Centigrade to maintain the efficacy of drugs, according to Drugs Act 1976.

The relevant authorities should take necessary measures regarding the maintenance of drugs’ temperature during transportation. The Sindh health secretary, district health officers and drug inspectors should ensure this.
