PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) on Tuesday organised a one-day training workshop for the finance officers about the ‘KP sales tax on services – special procedure for withholding regulation’.

A statement issued here said that aim of the workshop was to enhance the capacity of finance officers on withholding regulations for better sales tax collection on services. The participants included 35 officials from various provincial departments whose awareness and role in the implementation of the regulation was of vital importance.

In the first session, Shah Nawaz Khan, KPRA director (operations), talked about the background of devolution of the sales tax on services to the provinces and necessary features of the KP Finance Act, 2013 as well as establishment of KPRA in the wake of 18th amendment and 7th NFC Award. A cursory view of the taxable services was also given in this session. In the second session, Fazle Amin Shah gave a briefing about the sales tax on services with reference to special procedure for withholding regulation, 2015.

In the third session, the participants were briefed about registration and filing of withheld sales tax on services returns in an online system.
