HYDERABAD: Twenty-three members of the faculty of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS)have objected to the promotion of Dr Khawar Saeed Jamali on orders of Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, chancellor of Sindh’s public sector universities.

An application, sent to the chancellor through the university’s Vice Chancellor Dr Noshad A. Shaikh, questions appointment, promotion / transfer of a general cadre officer into faculty of a public sector university.

Dr Jamali strongly rejects the charge, saying he is ready to defend himself. He said he and anyone could approach court of law if his or her rights were infringed. But, he clarified, his case has got nothing to do with the top judicial post of his elder brother, Chief Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali of the Supreme Court.

The faculty, the application said, demands the notification be withdrawn and Dr Khawar Saeed Jamali be directed to report back to his original place of appointment.
