ISLAMABAD: Deadlock persists between protesting students and the administration of the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU).

Students have been protesting against the university administration for its alleged support of a student organisation’s ideology.

Classes were suspended for a second day as students blocked the gates of the bus terminal, thereby stopping buses from picking up students from various areas.

The students said their protests would continue until their demands are met.

They said the university administration is supporting a specific group, which is unacceptable. Dr Waseem Ahmed of the Biochemistry department, who has been holding negotiations with the students, told Dawn: “Talks are underway with the protesters, we are hopeful the matter will be resolved amicably.”

According to the protesters, some students recovered literature belonging to a specific group. They said the matter was reported to the administration which expelled three students from the hostel for a semester instead of acting against the student found with the material.
