KARACHI: The Baba-i-Urdu Moulvi Abdul Haq chair has been established at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) for which a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu and the varsity.

This was announced by Dr Fatema Hassan, secretary of the Anjuman, at a literary sitting on Saturday.

According to the MoU, she said a building, Baba-i-Urdu Manzil, housing a research centre and a library would be built at the varsity. A site on the campus was selected for the building, because Moulvi Abdul Haq lived on the premises, while his grave was located close to the varsity, she added.

A committee comprising three members each from the Anjuman and the university would formulate policy, she said.

Later, Prof Sahar Ansari introduced the guests who had been invited to the literary sitting.
