ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif has praised security forces and intelligence agencies for their achievements in operations against terrorist groups in urban areas and stressed “zero tolerance” for such outfits.

“Lauding recent phenomenal successes of security/intelligence agencies in intelligence-based operations for breaking the terror nexus across the country, COAS reiterated zero tolerance for terrorist organisations and directed all concerned to continue focused efforts till sustainable peace and security was achieved,” an ISPR statement issued on Wednesday after a corps commanders conference said.

The meeting focused on the developments in Afghanistan and the reconciliation process there; and counter-terrorism efforts at home, according to a source.

The evolving situation in the Middle East also came under discussion, he said.

The commanders deliberated on professional matters, besides reviewing the overall internal and external security situation.
