TOBA TEK SINGH: City police registered on Sunday a murder case against a seminary administrator, his wife and ‘accomplices’ on charges of strangling a 13-year-old girl student.

Complainant Ghulam Abbas said in the FIR that Allama Bashir Husain Abidi and his wife informed him on Nov 21 morning by telephone that his niece Ummul Baneen Zohra of Jhang was found dead in a room. Abbas said he came and found torture marks on her neck and face. He said the girl was either murdered by the couple or they knew about the incident. Further investigation is under way.

FACTORY FIRE: A fire broke out in a cotton ginning factory at Pirmahal on Sunday, resulting in Rs7 million loss.

Factory manager Sheikh Faisal claimed that the fire was caused by a short circuit and it reduced the cotton to ashes. A worker, Safdar Bhatti, also received serious burn injuries and he was admitted to the Pirmahal THQ Hospital.

INJURED: A private hospital nurse was shot at and injured by a man for refusing his advances at Pirmahal.

Nazia Bibi was returning home from her clinic at Sindhilliawali when Nasrullah Pathan allegedly opened fire at her and injured her. The suspect managed to flee on his motorcycle. She was first taken to Pirmahal THQ hospital while doctors referred her to Toba DHQ Hospital.

PML-N RALLY: Scores of PML-N workers took out a rally at Gojra on Sunday to protest against the alleged attack on ward No 26 councillor-elect Malik Muhammad Asif, his brother Muhammad Asghar and friend Muhammad Siddiq by losing candidate Shahzad Ijaz and his accomplices.

The protesters were chanting slogans demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.

The rally stared from Siraj Town and ended at Gojra TMA Complex where PML-N MPA Abdul Qadeer Awan and DSP Atif Imran Qureshi also reached.

Gojra city police have registered a case with no arrest.
