HYDERABAD: Describing the judicial system of the country as technically flawed, Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) chairperson Ghinwa Bhutto has said victims of any ‘fake’ police encounter could not get justice from it (judicial system).
“We are victims of brutalities of police force as our leader fell prey to such killing,” she said while speaking to journalists during a meet-the-press programme held at the local press club on Thursday.
She regretted that the case of Mir Murtaza Bhutto was dismissed due to some technical reason after 12 years. “Justice is blind, but in Pakistan, justice is blind to truth,” she said.
She demanded that the judicial system and the FIR process be changed in order to give relief to victims and their families. Two FIRs were lodged when an encounter took place. The first FIR was registered on behalf of the state by police and the other one by the victim family. She stressed that this process should be changed.
She said police must think that why they were being attacked.
The PPP-SB chief said everybody knew about wrongdoings of police. Over 700 fake encounters with police took place in a couple of months from across the province. She said Niaz Khaskheli, brother of Hyderabad PPP-SB leader Irshad Khaskheli, was gunned down in a fake encounter with police in Hyderabad.
She asked why Niaz Khaskheli was not produced in court after the arrest if he was guilty.
She said Rangers picked up people and released them if they were not involved in any terrorism act. But why police killed people, she asked.
Everybody had the right to trial, she said, adding that police caught only small criminals while big ones were allowed to go to Dubai and London.
