Rangers accuse MQM of trying to ‘close TV channels’

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday of trying to shut down TV channels in its bid to restore terror in the city and vowed to foil it.

“Pakistan Rangers Sindh is receiving information that the militant wing of MQM is threatening local cable operators in different parts of the city to shut down dissenting and independent TV channels,” according to the spokesperson of the paramilitary force.

“These militants are trying to restore fear and terror in the city which will not be allowed to happen,” the Rangers said.

The force in a statement urged citizens to report any such activity on its Helpline 1101 for prompt action by the Rangers.

Again Rangers showed sign of dirty politics they have been playing in order to replace MQM with their favorite party as it has been proved again and again specifically on NA-246 election day when Rangers forced people to give votes for their favorite party instead of people's favorite MQM!!

@Karachiites!! If MQM is this much favorite of the people then how come a 'Targeted Operation' against MQM according to you and people like you results in a sudden decrease of crime ratios?? And if an operation against some party results in the safety of people i think that operation and these acts are justified naturally.

I can never recall the rangers retaliating against the statement of zardari when he threatened with retaliation if the PPP persons were touched in Sindh, however, corrupt they may have been. Hence, it is shocking to see rangers developing a sort of vendetta syndrome with mqm and coming out with one statement or the other very next day. It is this approach which has made people question their motives even when there is in general a wide appreciation for the improvement of law and order in the city.
