RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) on Sunday contested Rawal Town Emergency Response Committee’s claim that dengue larvae had reached houses through the water supply lines of the agency.

On Saturday, the emergency response committee claimed that dengue larvae reached two houses in Purana Qila through the water supply lines.

Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood visited the area and after chemical testing found no dengue larvae in the water.

When contacted, the Wasa chief said water was being supplied to the 46 union councils of Rawal Town and 15 union councils of Potohar Town after being chlorinated.

“We checked the water supply lines in Purana Qila and Satellite Town but found no larvae. The residents of three houses mentioned by the emergency response committee also gave statements in writing in this regard.”

He said Wasa supplied water to the consumers after adopting the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. He said water was chlorinated at the Wasa laboratory at Rawal Dam and the Sangjani filtration plants of Khanpur Dam.
