PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have arrested a militant carrying a bounty of Rs500,000 on his arrest.

A statement issued here identified the militant as Noor Wali alias Nooray, a resident of Akakhel in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency. The statement said that the arrest was made on a tip-off. The arrested person was involved in a suicide attack on CID police station in 2009, it added. The attack had killed 14 persons including seven policemen while several others were injured in it.

The statement said that the suspect was also involved in the killing of sub-inspector Mohammad Tariq, the head of Syphen police post of Badabher police station, in 2009.

It said that the arrested person belonged was affiliated with a militant outfit and provincial government had announced Rs 500,000 bounty on information leading to his arrest. It said that the suspect was handed over to Gulberg police station for interrogation.
