RAWALPINDI: A naval officer was stabbed to death outside a cafe at Fawara Chowk on Sunday, police said.

Ehsanullah Yousuf, 23, a lieutenant, was allegedly attacked by a woman when he was leaving the café after having lunch with his fiancée. The attacker, who is in her 40s, blocked his way and exchanged words with him.

Quoting the cafe’s receptionist, the police said as the couple was leaving the cafe, a woman appeared on the scene and asked the man to return her mobile phone SIM. In reply, the man told her that he did not recognise her.

The officer also asked the receptionist to stop the woman as he did not know her and did not have her SIM. However, within moments the woman pulled out a knife and stabbed Ehsanullah in the chest and escaped.

The man was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died after struggling for his life for more than two hours.

Mohammad Yousuf Khan, the victim’s father, said in his complaint with the city police that his son was on leave these days and was to get married on September 20.

No further details were available till the filing of this report. However, initial police investigation revealed that the accused was often seen in the city, seeking alms and asking for food.
