MANSEHRA: The Planning Commission has approved Rs700 million for development projects of Hazara University.

The approval was made during a recent meeting, where Hazara University Vice Chancellor Dr Habib Ahmad was also in attendance. According to a news release issued by the university, the funds will be spent on the establishment of research facilities to the benefit of both students and researchers.

DENGUE TEAM: A team of the provincial dengue control programme on Wednesday reached Mansehra from Peshawar to follow on the suspected cases of mosquito- borne disease reported at local hospitals over the last few days.

According to district health officer Dr Sardar Bashir, the DCP team visited areas where the frequent suspected dengue cases were reported.

The team members also went to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital and met suspected dengue patients kept in isolation rooms. They met medical superintendent Dr Naeem Awan and discussed with him the ongoing supply of medical devices to the hospital.

Dr Sardar Bashir said a large number of suspected dengue patients were being taken to hospitals across the district but overall, the situation was under control.

He said blood samples of 68 such people had been sent to the National Institute of Health’s laboratory in Islamabad for examination.

The DHO said precautionary steps were being taken to check dengue outbreak in the district, which had been divided into 23 zones, where health staff with the support of local body representatives and union council secretaries would carry out fumigation and anti-dengue spray.

He said the DCP team would submit a report to the dengue control programme’s head on completion of the visit.

The hospital’s medical superintendent said the facility had isolation rooms, where three to four suspected dengue patients were treated.

He said men and women were kept at separate rooms.
