QUETTA: Leaders of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) have called for the repatriation of Afghan refugees to their own country and said that in the presence of these refugees their party will not allow the government to conduct census in Balochistan.

The BNP-M staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday against the presence of Afghan refugees in the province.

Addressing the protesters, BNP-M information secretary Agha Hasan, Prince Musa Jan, Abdul Rauf Baloch, Akhtar Hussain Langove, Abdul Nabi Marri and Javed Baloch condemned the government for allowing Afghan refugees to stay in Balochistan.

They claimed that about half a million Afghan refugees had got national identity cards, passports and other legal documents in Pakistan. The government should cancel such documents and take action against officials who are involved in issuance of such documents to Afghan refugees, they added.

They said the situation in Afghanistan had now become normal and the government should take measures for the return of Afghan refugees to their country.

The BNP-M leaders said they would not allow anyone to destroy the culture and customs of the Baloch.
