SIALKOT: Daska police busted an inter-district gang of dacoits, called Police Dacoit Gang, and arrested its ringleader Mohsin alias Mani and 11 others, including three policemen.

According to senior officials, a police team led by City Station House Officer Rana Zulfiqar Ahmed, raided several hideouts in the outskirts of Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot and traced out this inter-district gang.

The officials said constables Muhammad Imran, Asif Mehmood and Aamir Raza from Police Lines Gujranwala, constables Qaisar Shehzad and Faisal from Khayali Police Station Gujranwala, Constable Zahid Mehmood of Wahndo Police Station Gujranwala and Constable Muhammad Fiaz of the Gujranwala Elite Force were found directly or indirectly involved in crimes out of which Daska police had arrested Imran, Shahzad and Mehmood.

They added the suspected policemen and their companions would snatch or steal motorcycles and cars from various areas, district courts and hospitals in Lahore.

They would take these snatched vehicles to Gujranwala, Daska and Sialkot and sell them after replacing their parts with another vehicle’s.

Two other suspected police constables would purchase the snatched or stolen vehicles from the above mentioned policemen and sell them further to customers with the help of local auto mechanics, Naeem and Shahid, in Gujranwala by changing their engines and chassis numbers.

The senior officials also said the suspects had confessed to snatching and stealing 70 motorcycles and several cars out of which 20 stolen motorcycles and a luxury car were recovered.

The arrested policemen were sent behind bars. Police teams were conducting raids at various places to ensure early arrest of the remaining policemen.

DONKEYS: Unidentified suspects slaughtered 15 donkeys and fled with their hides and meat on Monday.

According to Sambrial police, the suspects had stolen these donkeys from some villages in Sambrial tehsil. They slaughtered the donkeys in fields near Bhopalwala village and fled with their hides and meat.

Police feared the meat would be supplied to local hotels and restaurants in Sambrial, Daska, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and surrounding areas.

Police started an investigation.
