With just 12 days to its release, there is a visual treat for all fans of highly awaited biopic, Manto: the official trailer is finally out.

Directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, the film has Sarmad playing Manto followed by a stellar cast for various roles from the iconoclast’s life and short stories.

Beginning with Manto opening the cork of the ink bottle to pen down his tales, the trailer shifts back and forth from his real life events to some of the greatest stories he has ever written. All those who have read Manto will quickly point out various characters like Esher Singh from Thanda Gosht or Sirajuddin from Khol Do among various other stories.

The trailer also depicts the role of Noor Jehan played by Saba Qamar in Manto’s own life along with various court hearings when Manto was accused of inciting masses to ‘vulgarity’ and ‘obscenities’. A glimpse of Manto’s muse, played by Nimra Bucha is also offered to assure the viewers that his painstaking task of writing a story is also thougoughly explored.

All in all, the trailer looks promising enough and will hopefully do justice to one of the greatest Urdu afsana nigaar in South Asia.

The cast includes great names like Irfan Khoosat, Sania Saeed, Hina Khawaja Bayat, Mahira Khan, Faisal Qureshi, Arjumand Rahim among others.

With screenplay written by veteran writer Shahid Nadeem, Manto had been in works for quite some time until it release date was finally announced earlier this month. The film is set to hit the screens on September 11.
