QUETTA: At least two labourers were killed when unidentified armed opened opened fire at them on Quetta's Sariab road on Thursday.

Police sources said motorcycle-riding armed men opened fire at the labourers on Sariab road, critically injuring them. The assailants fled from the scene after the attack.

The victims succumbed to their wounds while rescue teams were shifting them to a nearby hospital.

Police stated that both victims had received multiple bullet injuries.

The bodies were dhifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for post-mortem.

Police and personnel of frontier corps reached the spot arrived at the attack site and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.

No immediate claim of responsibility was made following the attacks.

Police said the incident seems to be an act of targeted killing. Incidents of targeted violence frequently take place in the restive Balochistan province.
