BAHAWALPUR: Six hundred army personnel were dispatched to various places across the division to carry out the rescue activities in case of flood.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), over 600 army personnel were dispatched to various places facing flood threat in the coming days.

These places included in Rahim Yar Khan district’s Ahmedpur Lamma, Bhong, Tarinda Muhammad Panah, Chachran Sharif Bangla Dilkusha and Samoka. The army men have got over 30 boats, life jackets and rescue equipment.

The army units have also been put on alert to face any emergency anywhere in the division. It has established relief centres at different places of district where the donations have started pouring in.

Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Javed Iqbal had an aerial view of the flood-hit areas of the division. He chaired a meeting of civil and army officers as well that reviewed the situation arising out of the flood threat.

ANTI-DENGUE DAY: An anti-dengue day was observed with a number of activities here on Thursday.

Punjab Social Welfare Director General Muhammad Yasrab presided over a seminar at the district council hall while Rescue 1122 also organised a seminar addressed by its district chief, Malik Asif Channar. The health department organised a walk from Bahawal Victoria Hospital to Quaid-i-Azam Medical College (QAMC).
